Masi Wine Estate

Did you know the Serego Alighieri Estate is one of Valpolicella’s oldest wineries, passed down through 21 generations of Dante Alighieri’s descendants? Purchased in 1353 by Pietro Alighieri, Dante’s son, a strategic marriage to a noble family secured their prestige and expanded the vineyards. Imagine riding horseback through lush vineyards steeped in history. Have you heard of the “Phantom Cellar”? During WWII, the finest bottles were hidden for protection, and some were never recovered! And those cherry wood barrels? They add unique smoothness and aroma to the wines. Explore these traditions at the historic villa, a timeless treasure waiting to be discovered.

Castelvecchio - Old Castle Bridge

Built in 1355 by the Lords of Scala, the Castelvecchio Bridge is a masterpiece of medieval engineering and strategy. Spanning 120 meters with a central arch of 48.7 meters, it connected the castle to the opposite bank of the Adige River, offering a secure escape route. Destroyed in 1945, it was rebuilt between 1949 and 1951 using original stones from the river. Walking across its crenellated walls, red bricks, and towers feels like stepping into history. The breathtaking views of the Adige River and the city, with the castle rising like a fairy tale vision, make it a must-see. This iconic bridge is a symbol of Verona’s medieval grandeur.

Castelvecchio - Old Castle

Why did Cangrande II della Scala, nicknamed the "Great Dog" for his power and fearsome reputation, build Castelvecchio? Constructed in just two years (1354–1356), it was designed as a secure refuge against plots and attacks. Built with local red bricks and white stone by hundreds of artisans, its crenellated walls, asymmetrical towers, and arrow slits made it one of the safest medieval fortresses. Beyond a stronghold, it was also a residence and storage for weapons and supplies. Despite its defenses, Cangrande was assassinated in 1359 by his brother, Cansignorio. Would you like to uncover the secrets of this fortress and the stories hidden in every stone?

Verona Arena

Did you know the Verona Arena, built in 30 AD, is one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters? This imposing structure, clad in white and pink marble, once hosted 30,000 spectators, with 72 arches for quick access and perfect views. On our tour, discover how it survived earthquakes to become the largest open-air theater in the world. Walk its ancient steps and hear stories of gladiators and epic performances that shaped history.

Customs Gate

Have you ever imagined what merchants and legionaries felt passing under Porta dei Borsari, built in the 1st century AD as Verona’s main entrance on the Via Postumia? The name comes from the “bursarii”, medieval toll collectors charging merchants. But did you know this gate housed rooms for guards and public spaces for official edicts? On our tour, you’ll uncover the “Passage Trick”, a tale of merchants outwitting toll collectors. Walking beneath Porta dei Borsari is stepping into Roman history and touching 2,000 years of Verona’s heritage.

Juliet’s House

O Romeo, Romeo, Wherefore Art Thou Romeo?" Discover the Legend of Love Have you ever dreamed of stepping into the most famous love story ever told? At Juliet’s House, with its iconic balcony, Juliet’s words still seem to echo, symbolizing eternal romance. Did you know Romeo and Juliet, from rival families, defied hatred for their secret love? Visiting this house, you’ll relive their story—from their first meeting to their vows under the balcony, and their tragic end. Uncover fascinating details, like the 1930s balcony, the statue of Juliet, and the room where you can send your own love message. Don’t miss this chance to experience where history and romance intertwine!

Market Square

Have you ever wondered what Verona’s ancient forum was like? Piazza delle Erbe, built on its site, remains the city’s vibrant heart. Stroll among medieval towers, baroque palaces, and the Fountain of Madonna Verona, featuring a 1st-century Roman statue. Did you know the square’s name comes from the medieval herb market, still alive in today’s stalls? Curious about merchants fighting for spots or secret deals under the Torre dei Lamberti? Or the Column of the Lion of Saint Mark, symbolizing Venetian rule and citizens' protests? You’ll also hear about the column of shame, where debtors wore donkey hoods as punishment. Don’t miss the chance to uncover the stories of Piazza delle Erbe!

Lords’ Square

Did you know Piazza dei Signori was Verona’s political and cultural heart? Here, medieval rulers made crucial decisions, and the Loggia del Consiglio hosted heated debates, often interrupted by citizens, creating a lively “noisy democracy.” Have you heard of the Arco della Costa, with its mysterious whale rib said to fall only for an honest person? Will you test the legend? At the square’s center stands Dante Alighieri, who found refuge in Verona during his exile, symbolizing the city’s bond with the poet. Explore the square’s historic buildings, like the Palazzo del Podestà, uncovering its fascinating stories and legends.

Scaliger Tombs

Did you know the Scaliger Tombs are among Italy’s most spectacular medieval monuments? They house the rulers of Verona, the Della Scala family, who made the city a medieval powerhouse. Have you seen Cangrande I’s equestrian statue, perched atop his tomb, watching over Verona as a symbol of power? The tombs’ soaring spires, intricate statues, and detailed carvings were designed to showcase prestige. Why were they protected by a wrought-iron fence? Despite looting and vandalism, these masterpieces have endured for centuries. Join us to explore the architecture and legends of the Scaliger Tombs and the turbulent history of the Della Scala family!

Verona Cathedral

Built on the ruins of early Christian basilicas, Verona’s Cathedral boasts red marble columns from Lessinia and hidden mosaics beneath its floor. Have you seen Titian’s "The Assumption of the Virgin", a Renaissance masterpiece that has sparked debates for centuries? Or the unfinished bell tower by Michele Sanmicheli, surrounded by intriguing legends? Inside the baptistery, admire a stunning 9th-century marble font with biblical reliefs, one of Verona’s oldest artworks. We’ll also explore the Chapel of Saint Helena, the sacristy’s hidden treasures, and beautifully restored frescoes.

Basilica of Santa Anastasia

Built over two centuries with noble support, the Basilica of Santa Anastasia blends art, faith, and mystery. See the Hunchbacks of Santa Anastasia, symbols of humility or ironic nods to locals, and Pisanello’s "Saint George and the Princess", where the princess may mirror a Verona noblewoman. Why is the façade unfinished? Disputes or fate? Even the red marble columns, submerged in Lessinia streams for “purification,” hold secrets.

A Gateway to Verona

Built in the 1st century BC, Porta Leoni was a main gate of Roman Verona on the Via Postumia. Today, only half is visible, with ancient walls, streets, and shops hidden beneath. Nearby, explore a section of the Roman decumanus and discover houses, shops, and an advanced sewer system showcasing Roman ingenuity. Step back 2,000 years into Verona’s history!
